Welcome to the Community Website for Bonny Doon, California

Thank you Fire Fighters for saving our homes!

Our wildfire of June 11 to 13 has been a life-changing experience. Many people emailed their personal stories
and pictures of those momentous days. Click on "Prior Month Events" and then "2008, June" to see the stories,
articles, maps, and videos. Also the July issue of the Battle Mountain News contains quite a bit more info
on the fire, with news from Val Haley of the Ecological Reserve and Tom Scully of the Bonny Doon Volunteer
Fire and Rescue. Call Morgan Rankin for a copy at 426-6412.
Come to the Thank you Bonny Doon Firefighters Party on Sunday, July 13 (see below).

EQUINE EVACUATION GROUP -Ten years ago we formed a county wide equine evac group. The Lexington fire was our
first emergency call-out and that was some time ago. The Summit, Bonny Doon, and Watsonville fires are a real
wake-up call to the needs of equine and general animal evacuation. Santa Cruz County Office of Emergency
Services - Equine Evac Unit offers a training course to become a member of this group and issues an ID card
that is very beneficial to you if you should have to enter an evacuation area. I am also pin-pointing a map
of Bonny Doon as to where horses and other animals are located so we can offer assistance when an emergency
occurs. There will be a training session on July 19th at the Felton Fire House. There is a prerequisite on-
line course you need to take before you attend this class. To reserve a spot in this class you need to
contact us by July 5th. Call Georgia (BD Team Leader) at 426-0110 for further info.

The Bonny Doon Babysitting Co-op/Parents Club
Some new mothers are looking to start a "mom's club". If you have a toddler or a newborn and are
interested in joining please contact Aleene Althouse. There are a lot of new families in Bonny Doon and
it is sometimes hard meeting neighbors. If you would like a directory of other Bonny Doon families
and/or you wish to be listed in the co-op directory, just let me know.
